July 26: Masterworks Chorale of San Mateo presents An American Century. July 26-27: Lyric Theater of San Jose presents Erminie, a comedic opera that follows two bumbling thieves who impersonate noblemen, insult aristocrats and put on a fake elopement to cover up a jewel robbery. All the while, the two thieves end up freeing heroine Erminie from a dreadful marriage, much to her delight. Sat, 8pm; Sun, 2pm.
