The world’s best poker players will be at “San Jose’s place to play” March 7 -12 when the World Poker Tour (WPT) returns to Bay 101 Casino for the 14th Annual Shooting Star tournament.

Things will kick off with a $2,000 buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament on March 7th, followed by the WPT Shooting Star main event March 8th -12th, with the $10,000 buy-in, no-limit Hold'em championship.

Bay 101’s unique and popular Shooting Star tournament is the only WPT event held in Northern California.

World-class poker stars returning to play in 2010 include Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Scotty Nguyen, Jennifer Harman, Daniel Negreanu, Jerry Yang and many more. First time stars in this year's tournament include Annette Obrestad, Card Player Magazine Player of the Year, Eric Baldwin, and Bluff Magazine Player of the Year, Jason Mercier. Last year’s champion, Steve Brecher, collected a cool $1,000,000 for his 2009 Shooting Star title, plus a $25,000 seat into the Bellagio's World Poker Tour Championship.

There are many ways for players to win a $10,000 seat into the main event. Satellite tournaments began on February 8 and will run through March 6.

The LIPS Tour (Ladies International Poker Series) will also be returning this year, taking place on Sunday, March 14, beginning 9 a.m.
